Back-door politics

Perhaps the FDP already knew since the resignation of Köhler, who as a financial specialist (head of the "Deutsche Sparkassen und Giroverband", President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, EBRD, and finally President of the International Monetary Fund, IMF) resigned his post on 31st May 31 2010: Europe cannot be saved. And so he also failed to save his gratuity, since he was afraid of >"double payment".
Since then the FDP has been in decline, and has left the governing to the Chancellor, who still jets aimlessly around the world trying to rescue the Euro, regularly calling the Finance Ministers of the Euro countries to Brussels to tell them again and again that they have to save. But the Euro zone can no longer save; it has nothing, it has squandered away all its money. Only Angela Merkel seems to believe otherwise, permanently agitating for confidence in the currency. A fine image; a nice show, but with an unofficial effect!

Since the meeting at the end of 2011, Europe has been antagonised, giving rise to the assumption of whether Merkel has made an enemy of Europe with her demands for savings sanctions, >fiscal Union and no further topping-up of the rescue package.
The first meeting in 2012 must have been only a positional battle for the European heads of state. The Italians, together with Spain and France, demand that Germany should provide more money for the rescue package, in order to reassure the capital markets. During the debates the opposition must have done the only thing possible from its cover – national bankruptcy is imminent, and the Euro community will then crash: They blackmailed Angela Merkel with the threat of bringing down her plans by withholding their signature, but unfortunately they overlooked the fact that Angela Merkel could not be blackmailed, because for all the bankrupt Euro countries, German bankruptcy would be an even greater fiasco. The fiscal union could just as well be called the >fiasco union. Perhaps this insight might have made clear to all the ladies and gentlemen at this meeting what it was now all about: to engineer their own national bankruptcy as expertly and politically conveniently as possible, and above all with the support of a strong financial backer.
And this is exactly what Angela Merkel did. First she touted the fiscal union and all savings plans in the German press as a masterstroke. Now she can stand before the financial markets, the rating agencies, the European and other important countries of the world, and the German people with an untarnished image, because they must all acknowledge that there has been no lack of effort on the part of Germany to save the Euro. Unfortunately it was irrelevant whether Angela Merkel could have been successful. It was also hushed up how little purchasing power the Euro has and will have, which will have to be paid for by those who are becoming increasingly poorer. And there will be more and more of these; our old people in particular will be affected.
On the contrary, the German head of government was principally involved in all the proposals on the rescue. What fault is it of hers if partner countries are not in a position to meet their obligations? If the Euro crashes - Angela Merkel is not to blame.
Next Mrs. Merkel flew to China to ask for money for the ailing German and European economies, money which she failed to obtain. Whether there will still be a Euro after the crash remains questionable, but there should not be any disorderly situation or tumultuous riots in Germany.
Although all press releases first announced the failure of Angela Merkel in China, even to the extent that China promised no money to Germany, as they reported, this can only have been a deliberately false report, which Angela Merkel crowned by addressing the divergent views of both countries on the subject of human rights. Such stupidity in the political arena is not one of her traits. It represents something else instead:
Angela Merkel is an experienced strategist. Throughout her entire political career she was the one who wanted to be underestimated. Surprise is her weapon, and this time, she surprised the Germans with an "epochal change" as she called it, but which is actually no more than national bankruptcy. And by this coup d'état she was able to keep the money of the Germans in the right place at the right time: in Germany. Her silence and the help of the press, who present her as a heroine and bold advocate of a united Europe, have so far managed to ensure that the great flight of capital of the billionaires and innumerable German small investors has not yet started and need not even start. It is a matter of two things: It is a matter of national bankruptcy, already prepared, which is on its last legs waiting for the trillions from China to end up in Germany and Europe, and that Angela Merkel, now that she has failed on Europe, wants at least to create a dream-Germany, which is ruled by her. In the best case this would be the only remaining historical performance possible for Angela Merkel, who otherwise has failed in all possible respects in her entire political career.

Recent opinion polls however indicate otherwise: They say that the Germans trust her. Unfortunately the question was not whether the Germans trusted her, but her performance. So it is appropriate, if hardly one uninformed German knows of all of these goings-on and can assess Merkel's policy, because the aim of the mass media is not elucidation of the reader, but rather mass stultification and state politics. And again it was the media who promulgated Merkel's last coup: the demand for direct democracy and that out of the mouth of Ferdinand Kirchhof, Vice-President of the Federal Constitutional Court, but above all a judge amenable to politics, after the affair over his uncommunicative officials, a willing spirit, perfectly suited to bringing such >information to the attention of the public. This is an example of how much politics needs to be controlled.

When Angela Merkel will have failed with her European plan, and the euro crisis has become the Euro crash, and Angela Merkel will have managed to stand before the people with a clean slate bemoan a plan which failed because of the unwillingness of the member states to make savings reluctance and their irreconcilable differences, then the back door, long held open, will be flung wide and Angela Merkel will slip through it and say: she has mastered this whole plight. And it will be the foulest political lie that any politician has ever uttered.

And if the people are a little irritated at Merkel's new plans for Germany, then she will succeed in preaching what the Germans should believe in. And they will believe that they have a good head of state, who always acted in the interests of the people. And more so than any other time, Mrs. Merkel will be able to sweep all her failures under the carpet. And through the back door of popular, directly democratic politics, she will be able to continue to conduct party politics that at all times excludes all serving politics by popular control. And perhaps this deception is the actual historical performance of Angela Merkel.

In the year 2003, an article by Angela Merkel appeared in the >"Washington Post" under the title: "Schröder does not speak for all Germans", in which she presented her views on German-American relations in the face of the Iraq crisis.
Schröder was at the time against the war, which was the popular opinion. Merkel was in favour of the war, which was only her opinion. If the Alliance for Democracy could write a letter to someone who had the power to put a stop to Angela Merkel's miscreant politics and make her malfeasance public, this letter would begin with the words: "Angela Merkel has never represented the interests of the people".
